GENETIC INFORMATION One thing that can be often found in the world of NGE-fanfiction is the fairytale that Rei and Shinji are siblings. Such a soup, the well of life, contains amino acids and proteins, but no DNA. Well, I have some knowledge of genentics, but I'm not a specialist so I asked a friend of mine that is one.

I always wondered how anybody could have get that idea.
It was stated that Yuis remnants were used in Reis cloning process, but it was also stated that a 400%
incident that caused Yuis diappearance changes the LCL in a primordeal soup.
So I didn't understand how anybody could use such a BS.
I mean, yeah, it's a nice way for Asuka authors to get rid of Rei as romantic interest for Shinji, but scientifically,
it's nonsense.
He works as genetic engineer for a company that works in the field of vaccine research, and since he likes anime too,
I gave him NGE to watch and asked him about the scientific background.

When you create a life-form, that consists of 2 different DNAs, and one of them is not human, the result would not
be human.
The Evas and the Angels have a genetic similarity to the humans as some of the primates.
If I would take cells of one of your parents, and merge them with Cheetah, would you consider the result as your sister?

When we see the abilities of Rei in the series, it's a sure guess that the human DNA is dormant, if there is even one.
That means that she can not be related to any human.
In fact, the chances that Shinji and Asuka are half-brother and half-sister are better than any genetic resemblance
between Rei and Shinji.
why not Kyoko as well? The fact that she was in Germany hardly counts because you can assume pretty sure that Gendo
was at one point in Germany to see the progress of Unit 02, or that Kyoko was in Japan to exchange information
with the teams there. The possibility is here.

heritage.

Primordeal soup is the well of life, the beginning of all. It contains amino acids, proteins, etc., the elementary
building parts of life, but not life itself. It is the state before life. There is no DNA, no living cell,
not even enough to say that there is a virus. It is just the well, but not life.
Alone the mentioning of QUANTUM form implies that there is no DNA.
In a labor, we need different nutrient liquids for culturing, but primordeal soup is the ultimate nutrient liquid.
You use it and it increases the development of the subject greatly.
You can not find any better substance.
Official, nobody does that, but I wouldn't bet that some military doesn't try to make super soldiers.
If you just want the look of a person, that's just easy.
Which means that even the genetic manipulation to make her look like Yui wasn't strong enough to overcome
the alpha-DNA of the Angel. It is the best evidence that the human DNA, if there really was one, is dormant.

100% Angel. And for the looks, they maybe used human DNA but it was altered.
What I always thought is right. No sibling relationship between these two.
In the series was stated that Yuis remnants were used for the cloning of Rei.
It was never stated that they really used Yuis DNA and even if they would have, they would have simply
contradict themselves.
